We are proud to bring a 100% CODI / PCI herd to the state of Montana!

~UPDATED 07-25-10~

What is CODI / PCI? - (Credit many different web sites for this info)

The name CODI / PCI represents the first 400 Boer goats imported to the United States.  Jurgen Shultz and 4 friends invested considerable time and money in attaining them from Africa.  These goats are the very best South Africa had to offer after decades of breeding.  Jurgen Schultz owned an export company named Camelids of Delaware, Inc (CODI) and the Pet Center International (PCI) was in charge of the customs processing, thus the goats were dubbed CODI / PCI.  They were shipped to the US and held in quarantine in Key West, FL before they eventually ended up at the Jurgans Ranch in Lampases, TX.  In 1996, Jurgan dispersed the herd.  Those original CODI / PCI goats are responsible for producing some of the finest Boer goats in the world.  Most of the original imports are now deceased.  Others have become so outcrossed that their style, character and conformation have been nearly lost.  These Boers are known for their breeding characteristics and especially for their ability to produce in kind generation after generation.  CODI / PCI goats are also more disease and patasite resistant, heavier milkers, better mothers, and babies show more vigor and hardiness at birth.  Very notable direct imported full CODI / PCI Boers include ENNOBLED Kaptein, ENNOBLED Tsjaka, ENNOBLED Lobola (Pipeline's mother) and ENNOBLED 519.  With this type of record it is easy to see why so many of the world's best Boer goats are from CODI / PCI seed stock and their offspring.  With CODI / PCI genetics in your herd, you have a more consitant quality of goats.

How do you tell if they are CODI / PCI?

Your registration papers may tell you.  The original live imports will have TX630... in the numbers.  Their offspring born during quarantine start with TX631...  South Africa Stud # 994... 915... 914... 911... are some of the sires and dams of the original imported CODI / PCI goats.

SB1 OBA Tate (ABGA #10305661) (IBGA #I-08-234-011 SA)

~UPDATED PIC 07/25/10~ Above is our buck SB1 OBA Tate (DOB 03-06-05).  We have nicknamed him "Tater" as in "Tater Salad" (Ron White).  Tate is the most mild mannered, kindest buck we have ever been around.  He is a deep mahogany red with some black throughout his body.  Tate is one of only 3 living sons/daughters (and now the only buck) of SB1 Mr. CODI Black.  His Dam is SB1 Miss CODI Two Socks.  Tate represents the best of traits you want in an old-school looking herdsire.  He has thick bone and muscle, lots of body mass, nice Roman head, beautiful horn set, correct bite, tons of big wrinkles, and excellent breed character.  The third pic, appropriately titled "Dad?  Son?" shows him across the fence from his son "Little Man Tate" (Our Bucks page) who bears such a resemblance you would swear he was a clone vs. a progeny.  Little Man is has also proven himself as an excellent herd sire and at just 2 years of age dwarfs his father in size.  In fact, Tate's buck kids are his crowning achievements.  Several of his sons are being used in breeding programs all over Montana (including here at Rowdy River) with excellent results.  These classic South African type goats are becoming scarce due to the latest breeding trends and "new style" of the Boer goat (which we honestly, can't stand).  Tate is one of a kind and one of the last remaining true SA bucks.  We got lucky when we got Tate.

Breeding info:  See the Our Bucks page for stud info on Tate.

Above is CODI Black's Little Girl (DOB 03-09-05).  Little Girl is a nice doe and is the friendliest of the CODI / PCI does.  Little Girl has SB1 Mr. CODI Black (SB1 Red Barron SA x SB1 CODI Rainey SA) on the topside and SB1 Nurse CODI SA (SB1 Dr CODI x SB1 M006 SA) on the bottom.  In 2009 she had her first set of triplets for us sired by our buck R1010 T7, and all 3 kids were 100% black pigmented and her 2 does are clean-teated 1+1.  We kept one of her daughters, Rowdy River Ranch Carrie (Trad. Does page).

Breeding/Kidding info:  She is retired and will not be bred again going forward but will live out her happy retirement years here at Rowdy River.

SB1 CODI Painted Girl II (ABGA #10208019) (IBGA # I-05-013-115 SA)

~UPDATED PIC 02-25-10~  Above is SB1 CODI Painted Girl II (DOB 06-01-03).  Painted Girl is another outstanding representation of a CODI / PCI doe.  She has thick muscle and HUGE bone, nice big horns with proper curl, and has a wide and long body.  She has BZ1 P4R (NBBG Renoir *Ennobled* x S Africa Stud #994-223) on the top side and SB1 CODI Beall SA (SB1 Extra Special x SB1 N600) on the bottom.  In 2008 she gave birth to our own Rowdy River Ranch CODI Turbo Diesel (sold to Lost Prairie Farm, Marion, MT), sired by SB1 OBA Tate and in 2009 she had her first set of triplets for us sired by our own Rowdy River Ranch Little Man Tate.  Sadly her 2 bucks were stillborn but her doeling survived, see her on the Trad. Does page, her name is (appropriately) Rowdy River Ranch Miracle.  Painted Girl sadly passed away on 04-11-2010.

ETCG CODI Hotti Totti (ABGA #10405999) (IBGA # I-08-234-009 SA)

~UPDATED PIC 06-14-10~ Above is Hotti (DOB 10-17-07).  Her sire is SB1 OBA Tate (SB1 Mr CODI Black x SB1 Miss CODI Two Socks) and her dam is SB1 Nurse CODI SA (SB1 Dr CODI x SB1 M006 SA).  Her color is traditional with somewhat of a mixture of charcoal black and chocolate brown on her head and partial cape, and she has 100% black tail pigment.  Hotti has developed into quite a nice looking doe, she a beautiful Roman nose and has length that just doesn't quit, and this year we finally got a good picture of her!

Breeding/Kidding info:  Will be bred live to Rowdy River Ranch Big-N-Rich in October 2010, pictured on the Our Bucks page.

We cannot thank Joey and Becky Anderson enough for allowing us to purchase our first CODI / PCI goats.  We wish them the best of luck since deciding to retire from the Boer goat business.
